EMERGENCY CARDS/EMERGENCIES

Students are to report any and all illnesses to their teacher and will then be sent to the Health Office to be examined by the Nurse/Health Assistant. Parents will be notified immediately if a serious injury or sudden illness occurs during school hours. STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CALL HOME USING A CELL PHONE. Each student is required to have two (2) emergency cards on file. Please inform the persons listed on your student’s emergency card you have listed them as emergency contacts for your child in case of an emergency at school. STUDENT WILL ONLY BE RELEASED TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS ON THE EMERGENCY CARD AND AFTER SHOWING A PHOTO ID FOR VERIFICATION.   PARENTS, PLEASE NOTIFY THE MAIN OFFICE IMMEDIATELY WHEN THERE HAS BEEN ANY CHANGE IN YOUR STUDENT’S CONTACT INFORMATION (i.e. PHONE NUMBER(S), ADDRESS, EMERGENCY CONTACT(S), etc.).

EARTHQUAKE

At the first sign of an earthquake, teachers will issue the “DROP AND COVER” command. Students will regularly drill on proper ‘Drop, Cover and Evacuation’ procedures. The teacher will assess the ability of the class to evacuate and will notify the Emergency Operations Center of possible injuries. Students will evacuate to their designated evacuation area and be supervised until a parent or authorized adult arrives to pick up student(s).

THE CAMPUS WILL BE SECURED IN THE EVENT OF A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE. WE WILL NOT BEGIN RELEASING STUDENTS UNTIL WE HAVE ACCOUNTED FOR EVERYONE.

Only Parents/Guardians or those listed on the Emergency Card may come to the “INFORMATION CENTER” to request pick-up of their children. Please talk to other parents about shared pick-up if you work outside the home and remember to place their names on the Emergency Card. Students will be released ONLY to persons listed on the Emergency Card, therefore, if there are any changes during the year, let the Main Office staff know immediately.

After the student has been requested for pick-up, a runner will go to the student’s teacher and take the student to the INFORMATION CENTER. The parent or adult requesting will sign the student out and then take the child from the school.

LOCKDOWNS

In the event of immediate life-threatening danger, the school will restrict all students to the classroom, secure school gates and will only release students from the classroom to authorized adults when it is determined safe to do so.
